The FA Cup Fourth Round

The Premier League makes way for the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend and the big match will be the clash between northern rivals Liverpool and Manchester United. There is no love lost between these bitter rivals and you can be certain that each team will be giving the competition their maximum attention. Liverpool will be in upbeat mood after edging into the final of the Carling Cup against Manchester City in midweek.

Another fierce encounter seems assured at Loftus Road where QPR host Chelsea. When these two teams met in the Premier League earlier in the season Chelsea had two players sent-off and a verbal exchange between England skipper John Terry and Ranger’s defender Anton Ferdinand has led to a high profile court case. Rangers managed to cling on to a scrappy 1-0 victory on that occasion and now have former Chelsea striker Mark Hughes as their new manager.

Other all-premiership ties involve Bolton at home to Swansea, West Brom against Norwich City, Everton hosting Fulham and Arsenal facing Aston Villa. The draw has also paired Tyneside rivals Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
