Super Rugby or better known as Super 15 Rugby is considered the best southern hemisphere domestic competition with 5 teams from each country including Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The Australian teams are QLD Reds, NSW Waratahs, ACT Brumbies, Western Force & Melbourne Rebels.

Super Rugby has been touted as the largest professional rugby competition in the Southern Hemisphere. It is the most popular way for top rugby union competitors to show their abilities to the world. Until the competition reached 15 teams it was named after the number of teams int he competition (for example Super 10 and Super 120. Now the competition can grow without having to change the event’s name each and every year.

The popular competition is made of teams from South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. Before the year 2011, this competition was a round robin format that helped to determine the winner of the entire event. The 2011 event is the first event with new changes to the format. Now each country forms their own conferences. Teams play others within their own conferences and then move on to play teams from other conferences.

People watch this popular event in person, on the Internet, on television, and even bet on the games as each team is narrowed down toward finding the overall champions and winners of the gold cup.
