About A League
The A-League is the top Australasian professional football (soccer) league. It was founded as recently as 2004 and is governed by Football Federation Australia (FFA). It was the successor of the National Soccer League which had been running since 1977 and kicked off its inaugural season in August 2005. The third and sixth placed teams play against each other; the same for the fourth and fifth placed teams.
